Following his Retro apprenticeship with the legandary Constantin 
Brancusi, industrial design and Italian sculpturer of Swedish  
influence, Isamu Noguchi began to experiment in modernism  
environmental design, theatrical sets, a designer outdoor chair and  
later modern furniture product design.
 
Isamu Noguchi created his first contemporary home furnishings  
prototypes for Herman Millar in 1942, and went on to work with office  
furniture companies such as Steuben and Zenith (1948).
 
The Noguchi Coffee Table (1947) conceals nothing, revealing everything  
about the nature interior design simplicity.  Two simple smoothly  
shaped pieces interlock to form a tripod that supports a 19mm slab of  
transparent glass.

Isamu Noguchi was a modern furniture designer of Mid Century modern  
and classic furniture.  Along side Charles and Ray Eames, George  
Nelson, Verner Panton, Knoll and Frank Lloyd Wright Isamu Noguchi had  
a major influence on the Knoll studio and Retro Modern Furniture.
 
His modern design concepts influenced later day Retro Mid Century and  
Modern Design Architects.
